Spring at The Hacienda: Celebrations, New Beginnings & Life Around Downtown

There’s something special about springtime in downtown New Port Richey. The oak trees seem a little greener, the evenings stretch a little longer, and the city comes alive with the kind of energy that reminds you why people fall in love with this corner of Florida in the first place.
At The Hacienda, the season has been filled with unforgettable moments, exciting changes, and celebrations both large and small.
One of the most meaningful moments this spring was celebrating the retirement of Oscar, a beloved longtime member of The Hacienda family whose personality, trademark fedoras, and warm hospitality became part of the experience for so many guests over the years. Friends, regulars, and staff gathered to toast his next chapter with laughter, stories, cocktails, and plenty of memorable moments. While he’ll certainly be missed, his legacy remains woven into the spirit of the hotel.
This season has also brought a beautiful run of weddings to The Hacienda. From intimate courtyard ceremonies beneath the palms to lively receptions filled with music and dancing, it has been an honor to watch couples begin new chapters surrounded by the timeless charm of our historic property. There’s something undeniably magical about seeing the courtyard glow at sunset while guests gather to celebrate love in a place that has welcomed travelers for nearly a century.
Beyond our doors, downtown New Port Richey has been buzzing with activity. The recent Chalk Art Festival transformed the streets into an open-air gallery filled with color, creativity, and crowds exploring downtown throughout the weekend. Watching artists turn sidewalks into works of art felt perfectly in step with the creative spirit growing throughout the city.
The long-anticipated opening of Railroad Square has added another exciting new chapter to downtown’s evolution. The refreshed gathering space has quickly become a hub for community events, live music, and visitors exploring the area before strolling over to Sims Park or stopping in for dinner and cocktails at Sasha’s on the Park.
Speaking of Sims Park, spring evenings have been especially lively thanks to the return of concerts, movies in the park, and community events along the riverfront. Guests staying at The Hacienda can step outside and find live music drifting through the air, families gathered with lawn chairs and blankets, and the kind of atmosphere that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly local. It’s one of the many reasons staying downtown feels so different from a typical Florida getaway.
As we move further into the season, we’re grateful to continue being part of so many celebrations, traditions, and everyday moments here in New Port Richey. Whether you’re joining us for a wedding, a weekend getaway, dinner at Sasha’s, or simply an evening stroll through downtown, there’s never been a more exciting time to experience The Hacienda and the growing energy surrounding it.
We look forward to welcoming you soon. 🌴
